Martin Chambi Peruvian Large format Photographer

The cargador 1921

I am a real sucker for those old black and white photos in old exploration and travel books. They really make me feel as though you are there with the author travelling down some bug infested river in the Amazon or crossing the Tibetan Plains. There is one photographer from the turn of the century from Peru who photographed both peoples lives in the Andes and the landscape that gives me that feeling of being right there beside him as he took the shot.
There is little on the net and only a few published works so far, hopefully more will follow.

Machu Picchu in 1921 a little different to what it looks like today.
